    Route 123 | Late Afternoon (35)

The cat lunged at Pierce, and he ducked underneath it. The thing was rabid, gurgling blood as it moved. The wound at its side seemed to pulse. Just looking at it made him want to be sick. Whipping his body around, he faced the cat again, keeping his head low. He couldn't see Isavi. Good, she had run. Maybe she would survive. He hoped she would survive, because it seemed rather unlikely that he would. The pale cat's eyes were on him again, and he tried to keep his focus. He wouldn't go down without a fight. Not here, not now. He was just now healing from his earlier battles, he could feel the scratches fading, his horn beginning to regrow. He wanted to win. He wanted to live.

The cat lunched again, but stopped mid-jump. The gem on its forhead began to glow brighter, no longer red, but white. Very bright white. The light grew until it blinded him, and then it suddenly stopped. The transition left him in a daze, unable to see clearly. It looked as if the persian's form was changing, as if it was morphing into something else. As if there were two of it. No, three. Six. His eyesight began to clear, but the extras still stayed. Double Team... he thuoght cynically. The attack could come from any side. And then... it did. From all sides. The copies all lunged at once, forming a ring around the Nidorino. Pierce did the only thing he could, the only thing his instincts would allow him to.

    He ducked.

His eyes shut hard, it was a long moment before he realized that the sudden weight on his body was not painful. Just... heavy. Was this what death felt like? But no... He could feel his body. He was still alive. Forcing his eyes open, he looked around. The cat- and the copies, were all gone. What had happene- a gurgling sound from above him caught his attention. The cat lay on his back, impaled by his spikes. Dead. Rearing his back, he flung the cat off, leaving it in a pile on the ground. Giving a shudder, Pierce turned his back on it. That thing nearly had him. He had survived through dumb luck. Steeling himself, he walked farther down the path. He would not rely on luck to save him again.

((Kaze... Thank you for giving me an excuse to use this guy again. I missed him. XD))

    Route 123 () Late Afternoon () [1]
The heady warmth of an afternoon sun was so much more comfortable than an artificial heat lamp...
Large hood held limp Yuuku rested his belly against the flat rock, warmth from the sun-heated stone radiating up to him as the sun shone down from above.
A forked tongue flickers out from Yuurei's blunt jaw and tastes the exotic scents on the air as the other half of the conjoined serpent looks around again. The new scents of are a lot to take in after the clean familiar scents of disinfectants and preservation fluids. Her brother, lacking ambition as always, had decided to take a nap as soon as he felt how warm the ground was and until he woke or circumstances dictated it their joint body could not be moved.
The feminine head flickers out her tongue yet again, relishing the faintly spicy scent of plants. A familiar scent reaches her and sparks action in the Poison Type as her stomach responds with hunger.
She nips the fringe of her brother's hood, the other Arbok hissing in a deep irritation as he is roused from his pleasant dreams.
"What?" he says bluntly, his hood once again stretching itself taunt as he awakes. The face-like design in different coloured scales stands out boldly against the poison purple of his body. Yuuku looks around, his less sensitive tongue darting out to taste the air and recognizes the scent that has caused his sister to wake him. Blood, the heavy metallic smell awakening forgotten feelings of hunger in the serpent's joint stomach.
Without being thrown in a pit to fight their prey to death the pair have shakily started to learn how to hunt like a wild Arbok would but the prospect of a free meal is enough to overcome Yuuku's dislike of carrion.
With a slither and a hiss the pair move onwards, both manipulating the muscles in their single body to move further onwards to where the scent marked the impaled corpse of a pokemon they had not seen before.
Yuurei nudges the body with her nose, the scent of rot and decay offending her delicate sense of smell.
"Yuck." She says simply, with drawing from the body of the cat. It was too small and too long dead to make a proper meal.
"Prints." Her brother flickers out his tongue. "Going this way."
Intrigued by the possibility of a meal the two slither forwards, following the footprints and the little dribbles of blood that follow until the pair feel the tremble of the ground under them and see the one who has slain the cat.
    "Purple rabbit." Yuurei says curiously.
"Purple rabbit." Her brother agrees, wondering if its coloring means it will be immune to the poison of their bite.

Pierce continued on the path, lonely but determined. He had lost Thorn. He had lost the poor lettle devil Sableye. He had lost Suzaku. He had lost Anubis. He had lost Isavi. He was alone, and he had lost so much. But he wouldn't lose himself. He would survive, he would thrive, and he would come out on top of this epidemic. If not for himself, then for those who had already lost their lives to the disease.

His thoughts were interupted by voices behind him. ...Rabbit? Whipping his body around, he turned to face an odder sight than he had seen in his life. A two headed snake. Eyes wide, he found himself unable to speak at first. Strange how the mind takes in the oddest details at a time like that, because the next thing he noticed was the two headbands tied around their bodies. Mentally he thought of his own Focus sash around his ear. Interesting. Shaking his head, he forced words out of his mouth. "Wha-" stuttering, he quickly changed his question. "Who are you?" He asked, careful not to stare.

The serpent twin's long tongues flicker out curiously as they turn their pewter grey eyes towards the thing, as curious about the spiky purple thing as he was about them.
"It talks." Yuurei says to her brother as if asking what to do, keeping one curious eye on the thing with the strip of cloth held around one ear.
"So...it is still good to eat then." Her brother decides with a smirk, spreading his hood wide so that the intimidating facial pattern shows. He pushes air through his throat as he exhales, making an eerie hissing whistle sound as drips of venom ooze from the tips of his long fangs.
He is hungry enough not care about what the purple rabbit was called, whether it had a name or a species. A few swift bites should snap off the annoying spines and then it can be swallowed.
Yuurei's tongue flickers out. The purple thing smells like blood, the bitter rotting blood of the small cat but blood none the less and like her brother she is getting hungry. It was harder than she thought it would be, finding her own food.
"I am Yuurei." She hisses softly, also extending her hood with its bright face-like markings. "And he is hungry!"
Moving with a surprising swiftness the two heads dart forwards in unison, carrying their long body behind them as Yuuku leap forwards into a fight and Yuurei follows. Their long fangs drip venom from the tips as the male head tries to bite into the unknown pokemon's spine covered body. Slit pupil eyes gleam as each twin carefully plans their attack around the movements of the other, preventing them from colliding. The two spread hoods form an intimidating pattern, the round eye-like markings in red and yellow distracting from their true heads and the darting movements of snapping jaws.
Yuuku ducks in from below as a snap of cold turns his fangs into long pointed icicles the size of human daggers. Turning his head he tries to dig them straight into the purple rabbit's side. His sister's long body coils around, preventing escape with a length of strong scaly muscle and she nips her brother on the hood, causing the other Arbok to withdraw indignantly with a hiss.
"I smell something." She tells her brother, flickering her tongue in the air as she picks up an unfamiliar scent on the breeze.
"I'll deal with it after I eat." Her brother hisses, turning his hungry eyes back to the purple rabbit.

((OOC: They haven't seen a Nidorino before so they're both thinking of Pierce as the purple rabbit.
Yuurei's coils have moved behind him and Yuuku is in front but Yuurei is looking the opposite direction and there's still a bit of space between them to move ^^;))

Pierce looked at the strange creature first with surprise, then indignition. Of course he could talk! Why wouldn't he abe able to? His annoyance quickly changed to fear, however. They wouldn't eat him... Would they? He was surprised when one head introduced herself, and acknowledged the other one. Were there two separate personalities in that one split body? Pierce had never seen anything like it before. Before he could do anything, the creature darted forward, killing any hopes he had of escape. The coils wrapped behind him, cutting off his route. One head opened its jaws, revealing large, pointed fangs. Pierce shut his eyes as he waited for the sharp pain of death.

    But he didn't feel it.

Opening his eyes, he found the two heads talking to each other. One heard something? Mind racing, he tried to think. He hoped desparately that Isavi hadn't come back. Not now. Thinking had used up his escape time, however, and he found himself eye-to-eye with one of the heads once more. "Listen to me!" He shouted desparately. "I'm not food! I won't die here!" Not after all of the death and sorrow that already occured. He would not be a part of this mountain.

"But I'm hungry..." Yuuku protests to his sister as he continues to eye up the purple rabbit. The fact that it can talk just means its meat was probably still good, its protests that it was not food the same as the last dying protests of all their other prey. Only the foul tasting lumps of rotting meat couldn't talk, even if they still moved so the fact that it didn't want to be eaten...meant it should be eaten?
Yuuku nevertheless obligingly dissolves his Ice Fang to listen, closing his large fanged jaws and flickering out his own less sensitive tongue to taste the air. It tasted almost as foul as the off meat, heavy with dank organic scents that made his stomach turn. Unless she had discovered a threat or another source of warm succulent meat large enough for them to share he was still going to eat the purple rabbit, no matter how much it complained.
The masculine head of the Arbok hisses under his breath, keeping his slit pupil eyes on the purple rabbit. It had a bit of cloth around one ear like the loose strips of cloth had had become tangled around their middles but it can't have gotten it the same way. Did rabbits even eat meat?

Yuurei turns her head further towards the source of the strange smell, her nostrils flaring as she tries and fails to identify the scent. Like many of the smells outside of the lab it was new to her but curiously enticing. Her long tongue flickers out of her blunt ended purple jaw. What was that smell?
Shaking her head to clear it of unpleasant thoughts she turns her gaze back to the purple rabbit who is loudly protesting it is, contrary to its appearance, not food.
Like her brother she is hungry, they have the same stomach after all, and the purple rabbit can talk enough to protest about being eaten which should mean that unlike the bad-smelling dead cat it should still be yummy to eat. Unlike her brother however she is also curious about this place.
"If Purple Rabbit finds us other food we will not eat it." The feminine head suggests to her brother to an angry hiss from the other Arbok.
"I don't care what you smelt, I still want to eat it. You can have the leftovers."

Pierce's ears lay flat against his body, his muscles tensed. He didn't realize he had been holding his breath until the snake closed its mouth, and he let it out. These two... He had no idea what to make of them. They would surely kill him without a thought. Or the male one would, at least. The female seemed more restrained, if just barely. Somehow, he had to get out of this situation. He would not be a mouse trapped in the cat's paw, so to speak. He had had far enough with being useless. He would help himself, like he couldn't help his friends.

He bristled however at being called a rabbit again. A rabbit would've died long before in the situations he endured. The female's proposition piqued his interest, however. That would allow him time to stall, time to think. A wild goose chase would allow him a possibility of escape. However, thinking about what she may have smelled... Pierce's thoughts flashed to Isavi, to the possibility of Anubis still being around somewhere. Of the brother the cheerful mouse had mentioned. Of more creatures like the cat. Of the Swampert returning. Each scenario more disturbing than the last. Whatever they found out here, Pierce genuinly hoped it was worth the cost.

    Route 123 () Late Afternoon () [4]

Reluctantly the deep purple scaled tail uncurls from around the spiny rabbit, Yuuku letting out a frustrated hiss at his sister's soft heart. Even if she was the more powerful physically, more of her body ending up in the joint twist of their long tail, Yuurei was always the weakest emotionally. Honestly, she was giving up a meal now to look at arceus knows what in the distance just because she was curious?
Turning his head towards the tensed pokemon, the tautness of its muscles showing it was ready flee, and spreads his hood as he hisses menacingly, showing the many sharp fangs arrayed in his mouth.
"Lucky escape...for now." He says simply, determined to keep a very close eye on the purple rabbit just in case it suddenly tries something that will make it food again. Any rapid movements would be enough to make it want to strike out, whether or not his poison would have any effect.
Glaring haughtily down at the smaller pokemon with his slit pupil eyes the elder head of the Arbok flickers out his tongue dismissively.
"Why do you have a cloth thing on your head? Do you mind taking it off before I eat you, threads play hell with my teeth."

Yuurei chastises her brother with soft hiss and the other head immediately whips around and bites the edge of her hood below her head, not hard enough to draw blood through the softer scales there but enough to hurt.
Yuurei drops the subject, not wanting to enrage her brother further. Honestly, sometimes he could be so childish, it really was irritating.
"It's over here." She tells the small purple rabbit with a softer tone, turning towards where the first tantalizing wisp of smell came from.
Curling her long tail she starts to head towards it, keeping her head low to the ground where she can observe without looming.
"Don't worry, I'm not going to eat you." She says in a tone she probably thinks is friendly but has an untrustworthy oily quality to it.
"]In fact I think you're kinda cute."
This statement sparks as hiss of outrage from her brother as he lunges forwards to bite her and for a few brief moments the figure of the fused snakes writhes in the dirt as Yuurei tries to avoid her brother's bite.

Pierce let out a relieved breath as the coils loosened off of his body. He had to agree with the male head's comment, however. He had been lucky. Whatever was out there... It was about to be very unlucky, if Pierce's suspicions rang true. The male's comment caught him off gaurd, however. He wasn't the only one with a scarf around here... Raising his eyebrow, he decided to test his luck. He said nothing in response.

Following where Yuurei directed him, he began to look around. Nothing seemed too out of the ordinary... The Female's voice caught his ear, but he found it hard to believe her words. If she was Anything like the male head, she would be troublesome later. Her "cute" comment, however, caused him to jump in surprise. Whipping around, he found he conjoined snakes wrestling on the ground, one trying to bite to other. Oi. What had he gotten himself into this time?

With a hiss Yuuku manages to close his jaw around the back of his sister's head, biting down hard behind the skull to stop his sister's wriggling. His long fangs prick between the dark purple scales as a tiny drop of venom leaves his teeth and he withdraws his bite before he can accidentally poison his other half.
Two little droplets of scarlet blood oozes from his sisters neck as Yuuku recoils with a soft hiss of distaste and smugly inclines his head to show the victory he has managed to score over his younger sibling.
"Remember who is strongest here." He says with a serpentine sneer and realizes that the purple rabbit still hasn't answered his question.
Rolling his eyes irritably the male head turns towards the source of the scent his sister has investigating. It seems to have gotten closer, he can smell it more clearly now. It was one of the many scents strange to him but it did smell like it might be food.
"Come on." He orders, pressing his body low to the ground and slithering towards the smell. His forked tongue flickers out of his mouth to taste the air.

Yuurei winces as her brother manages to maneuver himself behind her and close his jaws on her neck. His long fangs dig through the purple scale of her back and break the skin but thankfully he withdraws his bite before the little pinprick of venom makes them both drowsy.Irritably she shakes her head, spreading the ribs of her hood even further as she submits to her brother's judgement and focuses on pinpointing the location of the tantalizing scent.
"Come on purple rabbit." She says, her tone still playful as she joins her brother in slithering off in the direction of the smell.
The two keep their joint body low to the ground where it is difficult to see them, each half helping operate the muscles of their long curling tail efficiently.

Pierce's eyes widened when he watched one half bite the other. Whoever this... these guys were, they were insane. Eye's darting to the side, Pierce tried to see if there was any route for escape. He saw none that wouldn't take him past the snake. He was trapped. As the female half beckons to him, he reluctantly follows, keeping a safe distance. He would find a way to escape somehow. These guys may not be undead, but they were still dangerous. To be fair, the Sableye hadn't been undead, but he had been a threat as well. Even the living could kill, these days.

Yuuku snaps his jaws together hungrily as he hisses through the tall grass, pewter eyes gleaming with possibility of a kill. The purple rabbit didn't seem like fun prey anyway but now that he is closer this new scent causes venom to rush to the glands in his throat.
    Sweet, juicy...
His forked tongue flickers out, tasting the minute particles on the air as he angles towards his prey, keeping low to the ground.
As he draws closer to the thing he is hunting sounds of battle start to filter through around him.
Perched high in the branches of a nearby tree is a large nest made of dried twigs and leaves woven together and perched on the edge of a branch is the nest's creator. A Mandibuzz with dark beak open in a piercing cry.
Yuuku's tongue flickers out, assessing the situation. Blood is dripping from a gash in the large bird's wing, a gash caused by one attacking the nest with intent to kill the bird guarding it. The scent of powerful rot oozes from the skin of the aggressor and the Mandibuzz's talons have left deep gashes in its body but regardless it fights on. A scyther, one of the few pokemon the serpent actually recognizes.
"We must be careful." Yuuku hisses to his sister.

Yuurei's tongue flickers out, tasting the familiar scent of the Scyther and the unknown one of the Mandibuzz and her eggs. The Scyther's body is thick with rot, its wings shredded beyond ability to fly and blood edges its two scythes from where it has gashed the determined mother.
    Yuurei hisses softly in anger.
"Come on purple rabbit, it is fighting time now." She tells the other pokemon, focusing on the battle scene.
They will squash the Scyther like the bug it is and save the nest!
Yuurei's body curls as with a hiss she rises up from the grass and spreads her hood wide, the intimidating facial pattern temporarily stunning the Scyther as it becomes paralyzed with fear.
Lightning quick Yuurei darts forwards, a blaze of glowing flames surrounding her sharp teeth as she lunges forwards at the undead bug.
Her brother does the same, a snap of cold frost enhancing his bite as the two-headed serpent lashes out at the Scyther, both attacking from different angles before bringing their powerful bites together with a sickly sounding crunch.
Hissing incoherently the Scyther struggles free of their grip before the coils of their joint body can wrap around it.
The sharp talons of Mandibuzz grip its tattered wings and try to lift the undead bug off the ground as it flails its sharp bladed arms wildly in an attempt to sever flesh.

Watching the snake move... It was unconcerting. It flicked its tounge and moved with a deadly grace that made Pierce uncomfortable. He followed closely behind, allowing the two to lead the way. The woods grew around him once again, and the dodgey cover provided by the trees added to his unease. Sounds of battle suddenly caught his ears, and he began to hasten his pace. Whatever was out there could be in trouble! Arriving on the scene shortly after the snakes, he tried to survey the situation. An undead bug was attacking a large bird's nest. The bird didn't seem to be able to hold out very well.

The snakes were quick into action, and began to fight almost right away. It surprised him that they would fight against something they likely would not eat. Still, the ferocity of their battle was intense. Pierce didn't want to get too close, for fear of getting tangled up and eaten. Still, there was still one thing he could do. Thinking back, he thought of what he knew of snakes. They were usually poison types... "Hey!" He yelled, trying to get their attention. "Poison it! I think I can kill it after that!" His Venoshock would do much more damage if they could get the thing poisoned, for sure.

The male serpent hisses angrily, not about to take battle advice from a rabbit as he thrashes his body in the leaf litter and ducks a scything blade.
Rearing up he shows the intimidating face on his wide spread hood to the bug and expels air from his neck in an eerie whining sound as he snaps his jaws and grabs a blade between them, roughly twisting his head as with a gooey sound the entire limb is wrenched from its socket.
Yuuku spits out the hard armored limb, knowing that there would be no worth in sucking the small amount of meat from the tough shell even if it wasn't putrefied.
The tip of their tail twitching as if it remembers when it still held a rattle Yuuku hisses again as the Mandibuzz's thrashing wings stir up the air around him.
A chill glow spreads around his fangs as his head darts forwards and strikes, missing both the bird and bug but filling his mouth with a few bloodied brown feathers.
    "Kill it!" He hisses angrily.

"Right, poison." Yuurei says, her head bobbing in an attempt to track the erratic flight of her opponent.
Rearing up she opens her jaws wide and flicks her head back in a sharp assured movement that sends twin streams of faintly purple venom flying through the air from the tips of her two sharp fangs.
The nearly translucent fluid strikes the bug's face and the Scyther makes a screeching noise of indignation as the poison irritates its blood-red eyes and reduces it to near blindness. Venom seeps into its body through the open wounds in the Scyther's purple-green shell.
A few drops of the venom hit the Mandibuzz's injured wing where it hisses on contact with the bloodied wound, forcing the bird to release its grip.
The scyther crashes to the ground.
Yuurei arches her head backwards proudly, trusting the purple rabbit is indeed capable of dealing with the threat as her intentions shift.

Pierce stopped as he noticed something he had not before. The bird was undead too? The snakes weren't protecting anything, they were killing off vermin. It made the scene much less heroic and seem more like a feeding ground. Which it probably was about to be. He turned his head slightly as the bug's arm was wrenched completely off its body. They need to stop messing around. C'mon... Just poison it! He thought to himself, not daring to speak again. He had to be careful with these two. They would kill him if they got the chance.

Finally, Yuurei got the point. She shot out twin venom shots, hitting both undead neatly. From his vantage point, Pierce could see the poison seeping into their bodies. He knew that sight well enough, after all. They were ready for him. "Get back!" He shouted, bowing his head a bit. He would likely only get one shot before retaliation, either from the undead or the snakes. The bug was on the ground, and the bird was trying to stay in the air above it. Perfect. Grunting, Pierce began to focus his energy, and purple bubbles began to form around his body, never quite touching him. The bubbles continued to form until his body was completely hidden from any outside view. Then he attacked. With a short lunge, Pierce shot the bubbles forward, creating a solid verticle line of poisonous energy. The attack would have hurt anybody, but after being poisoned.. Pierce doubted they would survive. May Arceus have mercy on their souls. He thought to himself.

The masculine head of the Arbok hisses at the jet of poisonous bubbles at it strikes at the pair, spreading his hood intimidatingly in an attempt to ward off the poisonous stream as it arches past him and hits the bodies of both the Mandibuzz and Scyther where it immediately sink into their skin.
Dispassionately Yuuku's tongue flickers out, tasting the scents of the poison and foul rot of the bodies mingling as the scyther and mandibuzz both are struck by the terrible spasms of ones dying of poisoning, dabs of white foam forming at the corners of the Scyther's jaws and the Mandibuzz's black beak as they go into shock from the venom overload.
Yuuku's head is already turning away from the unappetizing sight, his long forked tongue flickering out towards their true prize.
"Now..." He says softly to Yuurei, already settling back down against the ground as he turns towards the spindly shape of the tree.

Yuurei looks impressed as the purple rabbit's attack completely destroys the two they were fighting. Her tongue flickers out to taste the strong scent of poisonous bubbles on the air, the forked tip picking up delicate particles of the remaining poison on the air.
"Good job little rabbit." She says cheerfully with a serpentine grin before following her brother to the real prize of this battle; the now unguadrd Mandibuzz nest.
Keeping low against the ground as her brother was the twin serpents twist their shared body around the tree's spindly trunk, slowly climbing up it until the two can edge out onto the main branch and stick their heads into the nest of woven sticks.
Four cream shelled eggs lay nestled in a bed of shed feather down, still faintly warm and definitely fresh.
Flickering her tongue in the air Yuurei bends down to scoop one of the eggs up in her jaws, her mouth opening nearly unnaturally wide to take the entire egg up in her mouth before she swallows it down. The bulge travels down her long powerful throat along her body to her stomach as Yuuku eagerly picks up an egg of his own and swallows it down.
In this manner the nest swiftly disappears between them. Ah, eggs were the youngest and purest of meals.

((Continuing post count from Pacifidlog, Hoenn))

Grimace had swam upon shore after swimming for miles. He had wished that him and his brother, Thomas, had brought food with them. Grim was starving. He resorted to what Miltanks do to eat food. He crouched down and started eating grass. Ooh the grass tasted like heaven. When not really, but anything would be good if you hadn't eaten in a day. When he finished his unnatural meal he looked over at Thomas. Thomas was sitting at the edge of the water, dreamily staring at Mt. Pyre. Grim didn't really get why Thomas was so sad, he barely knew any of them. If anything, Grim should be sitting there staring, HE LOST A LOVED ONE! Oh, the memories bring back migraines. Grimace's head hurt now, trying not to cry over his crush. Poor Yusei too. She may have had anger issues, but she didn't have to die. She was probably caring for the Chinchou that was with her. He shook his head of the thoughts. Remembering would just make him sad. Suddenly, Grimace, after not focusing on anything, heard the sounds of battle. PEOPLE! he thought. He had to tell Thomas. Thomas, THOMAS! I hear people that way, Grimace said pointing in the direction of a tree with a nest atop it, COME ON BRO!

When Thomas had reached shore, he looked to see what Grim had to be doing. He wished he hadn't. He saw Grim doing a revolting crouch so he could eat grass. Thomas was hungry, but not that hungry. Thomas then went to sit by the water and remember. He was remembering loosing Grim. He remembered thinking Grim was someone else because he had evolved. He remembered the huge crush Grim had had on Hannah. He remember Yusei's wall of ice. He remember the mentally-retarded Torque. Most of all he remembered ol' Zeke. Ahh. Zeke was like Thomas, trying to keep everyone out of danger. When he left, Thomas had to be in charge. It was hard, Yusei was going crazy, Torque was just... dumb, and Hannah was too little to fend for herself. Thomas hated being in charge. He loved the power, but hated the responsibility. He remembered taking care of his siblings during the epidemic. He- Grim had stopped Thomas mid-thought when he said he heard people. He looked to Grimace pointing to a two-headed Arbok heading up a tree. Two heads is better than one, was the thought that came to his head. Thomas smiled. Lets go see who they are! Thomas said to his younger brother.

Pierce sighed in relief. His attack had worked, killing both creatures. He could feel the tension in the air drop as quickly as the corpses, and it forced him to a small cold sweat. He looked away however, when the snakes began to move towards the nest. He had suspected that was what they were after, but he still didn't like to think about it. Disgusting. The thought of eating, however, caused his stomach to rumble. When had he last eaten? Thinking back, he decided it had to be when he had first escaped the crushed mountain the night before. They had found oran berries along the path, he remembered. Maybe he could find some around here sometime...

Thoughts of food were forgotten, however, when Pierce heard voices not too far away. Even without seeing the owners, he thought he could detect a tone of cheerfulness, the same sort of vibe he had gotten from Isavi. Eyes wide, he ran towards the voices. He hoped to Arceus the poor little mouse hadn't found her way back here. At least, not with that two-headed snake around. What he found, however, was definately not a tiny mouse. He could see two large Crawdaunt coming up the shore. Both seemed to be alive, as well. Hope began to flood into Pierce. Perhaps with more able bodies around, those snakes would be less likely to eat him. Perhaps.

With the weight of four whole eggs resting in their joint stomach Yuuku feels so full it is almost sickening. Though his instincts are to find a warm place to doze and help sleep off the solid meal his tongue flickers out, tasting the air around him.
Twisting his head to the side his hood relaxes against his neck, a sign of relative calmness as he opens his jaws and hisses at nothing in particular in order to feel like he's proved his dominance.
"Where did Rabbit go?" He hisses to his sister as the twins slither out of the down-lined nest.
"Purple Rabbit?" his sister replies, also looking around.
Irritably Yuuku twists his neck around. He wants to keep track of the future meal for a time when it is no longer useful.
The flickering tips of his forked tongue pick up the trace scent of the spiky bodied thing on the horizon as a faint vibration running through the earth notes speech.

Yuurei curiously follows her brother's lead, their long purple body hissing through the rough blades of grass as her own tongue flickers out and she tastes the scent of the two newcomers.
Her slit pupiled pewter grey eyes look down at the shoreline, her tongue tasting the scent of the large body of water and dry sun-baked sands with a faint flicker of good feelings.
Oooh, warm sand to sunbathe on! Feeling frisky she wants to roll on the beach and bury herself in the hot sun warmed dirt until all of her purple scales are covered.
Yuuku fixes her with a disapproving glare and she regains her command of the situation.
The fainter scent of seafood is diluted by the water but it is enough to remind her of what the orange things are.
"Crabs." She says to her brother.
    "Do we like crabs?"
    "I can't remember."
"Hey!" Yuuku calls out to the two emerging pokemon. "Do you taste good?"

    Route 123 |Late Afternoon (30)(22)

Grimace was so excited to see new people. Hopefully they were nice! If they were he could have a normal life, except for the zombie thing. He waddled as fast as his leg could take him. Soon, from a lit bit away, he saw either a Nidorino or a Nidorina. He couldn't tell from that far, since the family looked so alike. Soon, from behind the purple mouse, came a two-headed Arbok. Clearly he wasn't seeing double because one had a black scarf and the other a silk scarf. When they were in yelling, but not too loud, distance, they asked, "Hey! Do you taste good?" Grimace glanced at Thomas then back to the snakes. He had to lie because he knew the outcome of saying he was yummy. He knew they were ruthless because of the large lumps, probably eggs, inside their stomach. So of course his answer was, Uh, no. My brother and I taste horrible. If you were to lick us you would vomit out your intestines. Grimace smirked, clearly they wouldn't want to eat him anymore. Just because he witnessed close friends die, doesn't mean he has to.

Thomas casually walked behind the speeding freight train known as Grimace. As soon as the Nidorino came into view, his hopes grew. He knew it was living, he just knew it. He hopes then dropped when the amazing contradiction of nature appeared. The two-headed Arbok slithered quickly and precisely. When it was in ear shot it said, "Hey! Do you taste good?" Grimace must have had the same thought because they both glanced at each other. When Thomas was about to answer, Grimace ninja'd the answer. Thomas waited eagerly for Grim to finish. When he did, Thomas said that he agreed, then licked his shell. He then tried to throw up, but didn't have much food in his stomach to throw up. When the Nidorino was in ear distance too, Thomas asked him, Do you have any food I can have?

Pierce raised his eyebrows when the two snakes started asking after his location. He had not gone very far, and they already lost him? Escape later on may be easier than he had imagined. Still, the two Crawdaunt had his attention for the moment. When male-snake shouted out his question, Pierce couldn't help but scoff. Who in their right mind would answer that question? Still, he was even more astounded by the response, such an obvious lie that someone would have to be an idiot to fall for it. Although... He eyed the snakes from where he stood. Shaking his head, he looked back at the crabs. He didn't think the snakes would eat them, at least, not yet.

When the second crab asked after food, however, Pierce thought quickly. Water types... This may be the opportunity he had been awaiting. A chance to get off this island. How to present it though... The wrong words could be dangerous now. He had to be careful. "With the mountain rather destroyed, there's not much more food to be had around here, I'm afraid!" He shouted, trying to catch their attention. "However, if you can carry us north along the water, towards the old Safari Zone, I'm sure there'd be something there leftover that we could all eat. Maybe even some pokeblocks!" The species was hoenn native, and he hoped that they had a taste for the food. That, he believed, would convince them.

"It says it tastes bad." She says to her brother.
"Maybe its lying." Yuuku replies, flickering out his tongue. Certainly the two crabs taste strange but he can't recall much kinds of seafood, from what he recalled eating crab was a lot like eating bug types. It depended on how old and fresh they were to determine whether they were tasty of rotten.
The male head of the Arbok looks down at the two.
They had large claws and spiky bodies that looked painful to try and curl around and, like them, there were two of them.
Yuuku flickers out his bright tongue and flicks out his hood a fraction.
Maybe it didn't know if it was tasty.
"Do you have the rot or not?!" He hisses. If it was another yucky meated pokemon they would have to kill it to stop it from tainting more potential prey.

"Poke...block?" Yuurei asks curiously, wondering if the thing was tasty.
Ah the purple rabbit wanted to go.
The two Arboks could swim well enough to pass some small river straits but the idea of going somewhere new was exciting too.
Yuurei softly nips the edge of her brother's hood, calling her brother over for a private coversation.
After a few brief moments of whispered conversation the feminine head turns back to the two crab-like water types and smiles at them.
Her tongue flickers from the blunt edge of her jaw.
"We have decided we will not eat you...Foir now."

Grimace's head was swirling. He didn't know what question to answer first. The man-ish head asked if he and Thomas had 'The rot or not'. And the Nidorino asked if they could carry him across the water to the Safari Zone. Before he could answer the snake's question the girl-ish head said that they won't eat Thomas or Grimace yet. Grimace looked puzzled at the deformed snake. It asked undead, but clearly wasn't. He hasn't fought much Arbok, but he has watched his Trainer fight some. These Arbok liked eating living... Crab. Shivers were sent down his spine. If they were going to the Safari Zone, they would try eating them. He looked towards the nice Nidorino. He wanted to ask if those two Arbok were trying to eat him too. He wanted too, but he knew that would cause trouble. He just held it in the back of his mind as he got into the water ready to swim, since Thomas was going to carry the Purple mouse. But the thought came to him that he was going to be carrying the deadly Arbok's.

Thomas looked towards the psycho snake's with dis-belief. Why, he thought, would living Pokemon want to eat oth- Then he thought about it. A lot of Pokemon ate other Pokemon. He remembered hearing about a Glalie freezing another Pokemon and eating it leisurely. Uh, it disgusted him how living Pokemon acted like the mindless undead. He then answered the Nidorinos question. I will carry you across the oceanic part, I don't know the area well, so you'll have to guide me. He then got into the water and awaited boarding.

Yuurei declared the snakes' apetites, which brought Pierce a sigh of relief. He knew that they were likely talking to the crabs specifically, but it was calming nonetheless. Quietly, he inspected the Crawdaunt for himself. They seemed to be trustworthy enough, as much as he could tell from a glance. They looked to be strong enough to carry him, and they would be good for that. He would not be sorry to see the back of this island, and wanted nothing more than to be on the mainland once more. He would have left by himself a while ago, but he didn't trust his abilities in the water enough to go it alone.

Glancing at the snakes, he approached the Crawdaunt in the water. They would be able to swim by themselves, he believed. "Thank you." He said to the crab, starting to climb onto its back. "We just have to go around the island, then straight ahead to reach the shore." It took him a few minutes to get situated, without opposable elbows of any kind it was difficult to hold on. However, he thought he would be able to stay on as long as he didn't move around much. Which, he suspected, would make it easier on his shellfish friend as well.
