History | Romeo was bred for success. His trainers groomed him specifically so that he could partake in- and win contests. He was a purebred, coming from a long line of Volbeat, and was expected to be the best. For a while, he was.Romeo took the world of contests by storm, winning medal after medal. His trainers, however, wanted more. To them, a simple medal wasn't enough. Romeo had to be acknowledged as the absolute best for their lust for glory to be sated. All was not right, however, for poor little Romeo. Like all good things, his winning streak came to an abrupt halt, in a contest in Lilycove City. He had been wooing the judges, taking center stage, when suddenly, he was distracted. Among the other competitors was an Illumise, so beautiful his eyes couldn't believe it. Unable to concentrate, his performance suffered, and he lost the contest. His first failure should have affected him more, but he was more concerned about meeting that beautiful Illumise. Sneaking away from his still-mourning trainers, he found his way to the booth where the Illumise sat with her trainers. Flashing his tail to get her attention, the two locked eyes. It was love at first sight. Naturally, when Romeo's trainers found him, they figured out the reason for his loss, and pinned the blame to the Illumise's trainers. Bitter words were spat, and Romeo was hauled away in his pokeball, never to see the Illumise again. But he just couldn't get her out of his mind. Every thought turned to her, no matter how hard he tried to forget. He had to see her again. So he devised a plan. When his trainers brought him out of his ball again to practice for the next contest, he blinded them temporarily with Flash. Before they could regain their sight, he snatched the pokeball out of their hands and snapped it in half. Escaping through a nearby window, he began his search for the Illumise. She could not have gotten far. He finally found her in a tree outside the city. It turned out she had been looking for him too. The two danced together under the moon, spinning in a twisting circle for what seemed to be hours. Romeo had found his other half, his Juliet. |
Appearance | Romeo is a normal Volbeat, that is just slightly below average height. His body is slightly shinier due to his selective breeding and grooming for contests. |
Personality | Romeo is borderline obsessive about Juliet. He will take any abuse he can to avoid her taking any, both verbal and physical. He makes friends easily, but can get incredibly jealous. |
User Notes | Has no damaging attacks |

History | Juliet had always had an easy life. Things were always comfortable in her home. Her trainers had purchased her from an expensive breeder when she was an egg, so they treated her with care. She had simple training routines- dancing lessons, flying through hoops, practicing appealing to a crowd, but spent most of her time relaxing. She had never even seen the inside of a pokeball. Her posh life, however, always left her feeling slightly... unsatisfied. Somewhere, in the back of her mind, she yearned for some sort of adventure. Unfortunately for her, she got it. The night before her first contest, her debut, she found herself unable to sleep through the night. Wandering her home, she stumbled upon her trainers sitting at a table with strangers. Confused, Juliet stayed out of sight, listening to the deal being made. Before long, she was shocked to find that her trainers were arranging for her to be bred with someone she had never met! The thought disgusted her, and she was unable to get the thought out of her head as she attempted to return to sleep. But sleep never came. At the contest the next day, her performance was mediocre. She was unable to focus, and could not put her heart into her appeals. Afterwards, she sat in her booth, watching her trainers argue about what must have gone wrong. The whole situation was incredibly frustration to her, and she was about to make a scene, when a flashing light caught the corner of her eye. Turning slightly, she locked eyes with the most handsome Volbeat she had ever seen. It was love at first sight. Thoughts of the strangers, of the deal her trainers had made slipped away from her mind. This Volbeat... this was who she wanted to spend the rest of her days with. She didn't have time to move, however, before the Volbeat's trainers found him, making a huge fuss. Her trainers quickly picked her up and dragged her away, never to see the Volbeat again. But she just couldn't get the Volbeat out of her head. She didn't want to breed with some stranger. She wanted to be with him. In the dead of night, after her trainers had gone to sleep, she snuck out. She had never left the grounds without permission before, and the thrill of the act was enough for her to ignore the fear of being caught. She was going to find the Volbeat. She finally found him in a tree outside the city. It turned out he had been looking for her too. The two danced together under the moon, spinning in a twisting circle for what seemed to be hours. Juliet had found her other half, her Romeo. |
Appearance | Juliet is a rather beautiful Illumise, with no real defining features. She is slightly more petite than a normal Illumise, but is otherwise relatively normal. |
Personality | Juliet is completely in love with Romeo, but is not very emphatic. Because she lived such a spoiled, sheltered life, she doesn't know how to relate to others very well. |
User Notes | Knows no damaging moves |
