    Question- Berries/Items Empty Question- Berries/Items

Post by Fox Thu Sep 06, 2012 3:08 am

So in Seafoam, my character got burned and poisoned.
Another character suggested berries, which is a great idea; but I'm not sure how to write it out in RP.
In the games, they eat them and POOF! Magically healed.
Now for things like Max potions and the like, I can imagine that we can pull some magic and all the wounds are healed.

But what about berries and other status healers?
Do they heal the burn by making the burn/wound disappear?
I would think so, considering an open wound would still cause damage to a pokemon/make its' hp go lower...

For poison, it's much easier, as you can just become unpoisoned.

Just wondering how realistic we get while still staying canon...

I'd just say that the berries ease the pain and help the wound to heal faster. I'm not entirely sure though.

Personally I'd say for healing burns that the Berry would act kind of like putting an ice pack on it; it would stop the burn hurting as much and keep the wound clean as well as help it to heal faster. The burn itself would probably blister, swell a bit then die down as the burnt skin is replaced by newer skin underneath and can then just be peeled off. For a pokemon with fur/feathers ect I suppose it might leave a kind of bald spot for longer as the fur/feathers ect would have to grow back afterwards.
    Assuming this is a first degree burn, unlike the third degree burns a Houndour can inflict ^^;

Not too sure myself, but i always imagined that for burns, the berry would be crushed and maybe applied to the wound rather than eaten. Cause other than "Magical Mumbo Jumbo" i don't see how eating a berry would help the burn other than to relieve the pain .-.

I would think these berries work like the potions they're based on -or possibly, the potions that are based on them- and work like a low grade salve or antidote. Ingestion works for Poisoning and maybe Paralysis, but burn is a topical wound and must be healed as such. You can take oral medicines for the infections and swelling that will come with the burn, but all in all, the thing that's going to heal the burn itself is going to be placed on said burn.

    So... case to case.

A cheri berry would help the nerves and muscles relax, if taken orally. Pecha berry might induce vomiting, which would be the quickest way to get rid of poison. Rawst could be a thicker berry that relieves the burning feeling on the wound when applied. Chesto could work like a smelling salt or "wake up juice" that jolts the body's senses awake. Aspear berry may also be the other topical berry that works heat back into the skin and muscles beneath. I could see it also being taken orally, but would not be as effective.

To completely rid oneself of a bad burn or paralysis, I would think a lot of berries would need to be ingested, like needing to eat a lot of Oran or Sitris to regain health. Just some thoughts.

Okay, thank you everyone, this was helpful.~
This should go into FAQ, as I think it's something that would need to be translated from the game.
I'll talk to Sui about it.~
    Also, it's closed. :3
