Use of weapons

Would it be possible for a pokemon to carry a weapon as a held item?
For example if a pokemon that can naturally learn a move such as Scratch has the relevant body part (claws, teeth ect) removed could it use the move through an item such as a sword or knife instead?
It would offer no added combat strength in battle as the pokemon is incapable of using the move without the aid of it's item but would make for good backstory.

An alternate question is wether or not an item such as a poison barb can be made into a spear or something similar if it is the held item.

If I remember right, using an item as the focus of an attack, such as channeling a hydropump through it, (the issue was an umbrella, in this case. The water shot from the tip) was allowed. I'm going off an example from the discussion on one of ECN's characters. Sword, I would vote against, but that would be up to the Admins (YEs or NO vote on this please?).

There are characters on EJ who use weapons like swords, knives, and such, so I'm sure it's allowed.
Firearms, however, I'm not sure.

The weapon I had envisaged was not a human made sword but a Samuwott's scalchop for a different species character.

Oh, I see no problem with that as long as you can justify having it. Once again though, I'd need an admin confirm.

That's acceptable as long as the character can wield it. (would obviously need hands of some sort to hold them)
ECNs character should not be used as an example though, as their weapons were too far-fetched.
