Small hooves sank deep and tore furiously from the ground, rhythmic steps quick in their pace and propelling their owner ever forward. Her legs were shaking from the effort, her lungs were burning from the lack of air, and her heart was pounding so furiously that she felt as though it was going to burst straight out of her chest. The young doe reached a great stone and metal building in the middle of nowhere and was immediately grateful for the place to hide and rest.

Hooves went from rough sand to clacking against stone as she came into the foundation of the property, looking behind briefly to see her pursuer still hot on her trail. Panicked she leapt up a few conveniently stacked crates to a small slope hanging off of the side, finding a small indention in the bottom in which she pressed her body to go flush against the building and hide. From the ground she would have appeared to have vanished, and as she heard the sound of approaching hooves she prayed that it would be enough.

The buck from before had been sent here with the lovely Persephone, and her beauty so enraptured the male that he could not stop himself from having her. Especially in her current form. He chased her all the way across the desert to this abandoned place and now he was busy trying to track down his prize. After having wasted all of that time luring her away from her former home he was not going to lose her to some pathetic attempt at hiding from her fate. Calling to her, taunting her, he bade her to reveal herself, but Persephone just held her breath and prayed that the amorous male would go away.

Unbeknownst to her, the male had very much seen her go up there. He was simply waiting for her to reveal herself and prove her surrender to his dominance. She was so beautiful, even as a Deerling when he pulled her from the depths of hell itself, he couldn't allow anyone else to have her. She had to be his and his alone. Calling to her he slowly made his way around to the side of the building he had seen her go up, placing one hoof on a crate to make noise, a terrible taunt to let the female know he was near her. Jumping up the first crate he called her name one last time, a final warning to reveal herself if she didn't want to be harmed.

Either way, however, he would have her.

He had never been a complainer. Through the long, arduous, solitary years of his life, the strangely mutated hound had taken Fate's dealings in strides, accepting whatever cards the fickle intangible entity deemed to deal him. However, as he trudged through the merciless sandstorm, his feet sinking down with each step, he began to wonder if his streak would be broken. He gently reminded himself that he was out in this Legend-forsaken desert for a very specific purpose: to get his property back.

He paused as a spare scent of spring was wrapped around him for a moment before vanishing, mocking him and his goal. Was it a true fragrance of his mate, or was it simply a mirage he'd been chasing all along? Ever since the strange rift of power that tore him from his beloved cave, he'd only captured whispers, mere traces of Persephone to keep him on the trail long enough to pull him to the next clue. He sniffed again, finding the scent gone in the chaos of the sands around him. Still, the light touch of her presence was enough to keep him on the trail, trudging forward.

Eventually, he spotted a strange white building, the sandstorm moving on past him. As the devilish winds finally ebbed away to go and torture some other lost soul, his eyes widened at the bountiful amounts of fresh scent that pawed at his senses. Persephone was definitely here... His eyes immediately went to the only moving figure, a male counterpart to his own mate, calling her name. "Oh... What is this?" he mused, striding forward, his long legs quickly closing the gap between him and the stranger.

Instead of offering an actual greeting, however, Hades merely sat and watched, eager to see just what this young buck was up to. Obviously, his own mate was up on the roof, in all likeliness cowering from this bold, albeit stupid pursuer. He gazed on, pleasant countenance upon him.

The buck was furious when Persephone didn't move from her hiding place, and angrily leapt the rest of the way up the crates to the roof, looming over his prize. However, said prize had more in store for him than the shriek of terror that hit his ears. A Jump Kick to the face was the last thing he expected, and sent the buck crashing to the ground followed quickly by a fleeing Sawsdoe. Her hooves clicked noisily to the ground as she came down from her Jump Kick and she took off to go hide inside the building.

However, something was blocking her way to the door.

A strange and powerful hound was sitting there, staring at her, and Persephone felt her legs go instinctively to jelly. While she had never seen this kind of creature before everything in her body was screaming at her not to run, that it would only make it worse. She hadn't felt this way since the day she had been captured, and as she remembered a familiar scent hit her nose causing the doe to take a couple of steps back in shocked awe. "H-Hades..." While he looked nothing like the hound that had taken her, she knew this was he. There was no mistaking those eyes no matter what form he took.

Face gashed and bleeding the buck forced himself back up to his feet, stumbling around as the world fought to get back into focus. That little bitch had kicked him right in the face! She was gonna pay for something so humiliating. So angry was the Sawsbuck that he didn't even notice the hellish hound sitting before his prize, nor did he see the look of fear crossing her face as she acknowledged its presence. Instead, he reared back and let out a terrible cry before charging the doe, antlers down and ready to drop her.

Ah, it seemed his many days of training his mate had done some good after all.

While his gut instinct was to immediately rip the impudent ignoramus that sought after his own property, it seemed his mate knew her place and rightfully denied the buck in a rather violent way. A cruel smile graced his lips as he watched the buck fall to the cracked concrete, earning his rightful spot face first into nothing but failure. Cold, distant, teeth-shattering failure. Persephone careened off the roof as well, landing on the ground somewhat gracefully before finally realizing he stood there. His smile unchanging, he looked over her new form without restraint, his contrasting eyes analyzing the beautiful creature she'd become.

Her elegant legs had grown, elevating her on glorious stilts above the world that so tried to entrap her. Her neck, thin and swan-like, curved down to a strong back, shoulders and hips. Her chest was adorned with a small, bright and lively bush of greenery, decorated with a lovely, simple blossom of pink. It was fitting for her. Still, though they had both changed considerably since seeing each other last, it looked like either was not going to forget the other soon.

"H-Hades..." Her voice, fragile and soft, was an ethereal chorus of angels to his ears. Only she could say his name so.

"...Persephone," he replied, cooly and calm, his gratitude for finding her not only alive but unscathed tinting his otherwise emotionless tone. He did not get the time to extend the pleasantries, however, as the buck remembered he was still alive and, in a blind rage, came at the two.

While Hades appreciated his mate being able to defend herself, this buck was swiftly losing the hound's interest-- a dangerous concept. He stood, calmly taking his place in front of Persephone, raising his head a little to see the young buck eye to eye. "...I would quit, barbarian, were I in your tread."

As she heard her name rumbling from that deep chest Persephone felt her limbs freeze. It was him... Panic swelled in her as she realized the fury he must feel at her running away, how angry he would be to find her with someone else...even if she was trying to get away from the other one. The Hades she knew didn't take kindly to his things being touched or taken from him, and since she was supposed to be his 'mate' he would be even more furious.

The Sawsbuck was charging blindly, eyes to the ground as his horned stood ready to either gore the doe or rush her to the ground. Persephone heard his coming and turned slightly, eyes wide in fear, but Hades himself stepped in front of her. "...I would quit, barbarian, were I in your tread." While he heard the voice he was too close to stop, but he didn't care. There was another male between him and his prize so that meant a challenge. Rather than the futile effort to slot down his horns began to glow as he readied a Horn Leech, ready to full on fight his challenger.

Seeing what was about to happen Persephone jumped out of the way, hiding from the slaughter that was sure to come. Another fear gripped her, but this time it was more a fear of worry. The scariest part was...it was fear for Hades, not of him. She was scared he would get hurt. "Hades..." she whispered, watching as the buck made his move on her 'mate', and whispered a silent prayer for the hound to emerge unscathed. Despite the fact that him remaining uninjured would mean that she wouldn't be able to get away once he set his sight on her, she just couldn't bring herself to wish him harm. After all, he had never directly harmed her, so why would she want him to feel pain?

Though he'd given fair warning to the vapid cervine, Hades saw no attempt in the simpleton to slow himself. It was true he could have simply burned the charliaton to a crisp right then and there, however, Persephone was in danger of becoming a victim as well. So, in a bid to further protect his wayward mate, he merely opened his stance and allowed the attack to hit him.

He was honestly surprised how weak the buck truly was.

The force of the attack made him slide a few inches, a foot at the most. The buck's antlers stayed against Hades' thin side, the attacker likely unsure of what to do next. "...You were warned," was the only reply Hades would give, and might be the last words the insolent child would ever hear. Without reacting or blinking an eye, the hound fired a Dark Pulse, the buck's face once more bearing the brunt of a full-on attack. The challenger was sent flying, smashing into the crates he'd previously been taunting Persephone on. Hades sat, patiently waiting to see if the buck would emerge. He glanced back to his mate, chilling eyes catching hers for a moment.

"...This is the strapping stud with which you eloped? I would be insulted were I a lesser creature such as he."

The Sawsdoe couldn't tear her eyes away as Hades tossed her pursuer away with ease. She had to jump out of the way when his body was flung by the ripples of dark energy to crash into the crates, finding herself praying that he wouldn't get up again. She was so very tired of running..."...This is the strapping stud with which you eloped? I would be insulted were I a lesser creature such as he." Persephone's eyes widened as she turned to face Hades himself, her mind reeling from his mere presence. "I-I...n-n-no! I-I d-didn't...He..." It wasn't a lie that she did nothing with the male, but she couldn't deny to the hound that she had run. All she could do now was hang her head in shame and cry.

Broken wood shifted and fell to the ground noisily as the buck climbed out of the wreckage of crates. His face was nearly completely skinned on one side, blood pouring from the wounds and lacerations. He was in tremendous pain but his anger was quickly forcing it away. Who the hell did this guy think he was? Calling out to Persephone he ordered her away, only to see her move closer to the mutt to the point of hiding behind him. "Stay away!" she cried. Couldn't she see that this stupid dog was just going to rip the flesh from her bones? Angrily he stomped the ground and lowered his horns once more, charging the dark type before leaping and preparing his Take Down. That dick would pay for trying to take his girl.

Hades' gaze stayed on Persephone as she admitted her guilt, trying to deny some unknown accusation before completely submitting to all-out weeping. His expression remained, the soft, enigmatic smile still on him even as the wood before him shifted to reveal the bloody remnants of his challenger. The hound turned to see him, face marred almost beyond recognition, step out of the bloody debris and called to Persephone. Hades didn't even look back to her for her response; he knew she wouldn't budge. She cried for the buck to stay away, backing further behind Hades than she already was. Hades' smile grew a fraction, his ghost-like eyes still on the livid buck.

It was a last chance for the young male to walk away with his life, but Hades knew it was a futile notion. Too enraged to see that he was hideously outmatched and out-typed, he darted forward in another bid to best the hound, charging and leaping in a terrible Take Down. Hades' eyes followed his form, and just as the buck reached the pinnacle of his arc, he fired, smile still on.

The Dark Pulse caught the male in the chest, careening him back into the air and away from the two. He fell, some other pile of debris breaking his fall. Hades stood, turning his ornate head toward the shivering doe behind him, saying, "Stay here." It was soft but terribly firm, a glint of tension in his normally pleasant gaze. Turning from her back to his pitiful challenger, he casually made his way to him, the poor buck broken to better fit the metal scraps he'd met as his cushion. Hades' smile never faltered as he stared down at the creature, eyes so contrasted against his shadowed form wandering the odd rivets and lumps that littered the buck's body. Ribs shattered, spine probably broken, the buck's hindquarters limp. One eye seemed well enough to still see, and lo and behold, his chest was still rising. So he managed to survive the fall as well.

Pity such a headstrong boy should end up like this.

Without a word, Hades reached forward with his paw to the male's neck and pressed down, blocking the air. There would be no grand attack to end his life. No, Hades enjoyed the male's suffering, the way he uselessly twitched and gagged. Under Hades' light but firm pressure, he slowly lost more and more air as the hound ever so slightly administered more and more pressure to his throat. Soon, the buck's eyes began to bulge, white scolera stained red with popped blood vessels. It was a beautiful few moments, the buck's fear of death finally outmatching his anger, his brow turned upward in an expression that was supposed to evoke sympathy. Hades gazed back down, his own smile unwavering. Finally, the buck learned that he had been facing and challenging his own fate.

    And lost.

When the erratic pulse pounding under Hades' paw came to a still, he retrieved his appendage, turning back to Persephone, expression unchanged. "...Now, you may speak without interruption." He went back to her, his speed as casual as it had been all along. "...You won't leave again." It was not a question. It wasn't even a demand. It was fact.

Hades dealt with the buck with a wicked precision, his attack sending the deer flying once more before he stood upon its throat and crushed the delicate windpipe. A bloodless, yet still brutal, way to end someone's life. While Persephone couldn't say she wasn't happy to see it all over it still sent a chill down her spine to see Hades so ruthless. While he was never the warmest male his level of detachment from things like death was the strangest thing about him. "...Now, you may speak without interruption." Gulping loudly the young female struggled to find something to say, but came up empty.

"...You won't leave again." Persephone didn't speak, she didn't need to. It was not a question or a command that needed a response, it was a cold hard fact that she knew was unquestionable. This adventure had already proved that she was incapable on her own, and Hades even now protected her when he should have left her to suffer her consequences. Even her training had proven less than effective on the buck who continually charged her. She needed Hades, whether she wanted to accept it or not she was nothing without him now.

"But where do we go?" she asked the great hound before her. "I don't even know where we are..." The Sawsdoe shifted uncomfortably, hooves clicking delicately against the stone ground as she looked around nervously. Whatever that strange power had been it took her far away from home and she was lost as to how they were going to get back. This place was strange, a building in the middle of nowhere, a sea of endless sands...this region was strange indeed. "Are there even other Pokemon here? It seems so...dead." Realizing that what she said could be construed as a outlet for escape once more she quickly added on to her words to dispel such suspicion. "A-At least back home there were sounds of Pokemon in the caves and from the surface. Here, it is so quiet...It's eerie." Hades would know, he knew everything. Ever since she had met him that was the one thing Persephone was sure of.

It seemed that Persephone agreed with the previously stated fact, vocalising no objection to it. His face remaining pleasantly neutral, his stark eyes watched her squirm uncomfortably under his gaze. There was no change in him either as she hastily changed the subject, her concern shifting from his question to the precarious situation regarding shelter they'd both found themselves in. "But where do we go?" she whipmered, her eyes going to him. "I don't even know where we are..." She glanced around more, her legs following her dutifully to keep her turning in all directions. Panic began to settle into her scent-- an enticing, intriguing aroma. "Are there even other Pokemon here? It seems so...dead." The remark earned an amused chuckle from Hades-- what a notion. Of course it was dead. Everything was dead now. "A-At least back home there were sounds of Pokemon in the caves and from the surface. Here, it is so quiet...It's eerie."

"You worry too much," was Hades' quiet response as he made his way more to her side. "...The world is dead. Such is simple truth we learn. We are merely the vultures feeding on its rotting corpse." He glanced upward at her, knowing his words likely gave no comfort. While he hadn't intended on that anyway, he knew her paranoia was probably only going to worsen without some assurance of their safety. "...I am not sure how any of us got here, nor our location. I am very sure, however, that we are nowhere near the cave." He took a step forward, eyes catching sight of the one proud mountain in the distance. That was not a landmark he knew at all; in his homeland, no one mountain stood so defiantly against the heavens. This was a completely different land entirely, and their escape from these foreign sands was likely a thousand times more difficult and complex than their spontaneous entrance.

"This will suit our purposes for now, Persephone. Come. Let us see if this old building holds anything of value. I am sure you are thirsty, no?" He turned to go deeper within the building, waiting for her to follow.

Persephone nodded dumbly as Hades spoke, bidding her to follow him into the darkness of the building they had found. At the mention of thirst the doe couldn't help but feel her throat clench somewhat as though it were aching for the very thing that would soothe its dry ache. Her hooves tapped gently on the ground, the rhythmic sound echoing in the empty halls as she kept an even pace with the hound in front of her. But her time with Hades trained her to always remember to stay steps behind the strange male for it was never good to be in his way.

As they made their way through an odd thought occurred to the Sawsdoe, one that should have caught her attention earlier when Hades mentioned it. "Would such a strange cave really have water? Didn't people make this?" It was lost on the doe that humans needed water too, and since she had never actually been inside man-made structures before she didn't know what to call the place in which they ventured. To Persephone, this wasn't a building as the humans knew it, it was more like an oddly shaped cave carved by hand rather than nature. But of course Hades would know better than her. He always knew better.

((Aww Persephone, you so naive about the world. lol. Must have been all that SHELTERING! XD))

"Would such a strange cave really have water? Didn't people make this?" Persephone questioned, earning a low, amused chuckle from the mutated houndusk. He continued leading onward, down into the ruined depths of the strange building.

"Humans need water too, Persephone. Anything that breathes needs water. Hopefully, we'll find some sort of reservoir that's still drinkable." He paused, allowing his eyes to adjust to the gloom of the threshold they stood. A quick sniff of his surroundings spoke of the room's history: humans fighting for their lives in vain, chemicals, panic, blood, pokemon coming and going in and out of the ruin... But, for the moment it seemed, they were alone. He moved casually forward once more, fully expecting Persephone to follow. Ahead was a broken door of some kind, which he slipped past and spotted some bottles of water. "Perfect." He trotted over, picking up two in his mouth and gently carried them back to his mate.

"This should hold you for now." Tone ever even, he unscrewed the top of one bottle and offered it for Persephone to lap at before unscrewing his own.

The Sawsdoe hung her head in shame as Hades pointed out that even humans needed water to survive. Of course she should have known that, despite never having really met a human. Everything needed water. But human caves were so odd looking she had never really considered that they would have water brought to their homes rather than going to seek it like Pokemon did, that was the odd part to her. How did they master such a craft?

Her question was answered as her 'mate' brought over a shimmery cylinder that crinkled oddly as he held it, but the fact that it was clear allowed her to see that inside the strange container was water sloshing around to his movements. Her tongue went dry at the sight of such clear water and she could almost taste it as she watched Hades remove the cap and offer her the bottle. "This should hold you for now." She bent down to try and lap at it but the hole was too small, her tongue barely able to get into the small space. "I...I can't..."

Distressed, Persephone began looking around before spotting a small rounded plate laying upside down on the floor nearby. Walking over she nudged it up her hoof so she could grip the lip of it in her mouth before making her way back over to the bottle. Laying the plate down, right side up this time, next to the offered water she looked back and forth at them several times before using one delicate hoof to tip over the bottle onto the plate, watching as the life giving liquid emptied into the plate. Happy with her achievement she gave a small smile of triumph to Hades before bending down and taking her fill.

It was almost cute watching his mate try and figure out how to ge to the elusive water hiding within its plastic prison. She paced and looked about herself for a solution, but he only sat and observed, taking mental notes for how long it would actually take her to unwravel this particular riddle. Finally, she grabbed a plate and spilled the bottle's contents within it, allowing her to lap at it. Proud of herself, she smiled to him, which he returned as enthusiastically as he normally did, and reaped the fruits of her labor. His own method for obtaining the water was far more straight forward and brutal; after lapping the bit of water at the top, he simply bit off the top of the water bottle, allowing him further access. When he ran out of water to lap, he merely bit the plastic off again. Simple.

Once he finished his bottle, he glanced around, searching for some sort of information within the building as to where they were. A town, a road... a name for the region, even. Something. He was not fond of situations where he was so veiled from information, so clueless to his own surroundings as a newborn babe. It made him feel stupid and helpless; something he would not allow himself to be --for his own sake and Persephone's. Casually walking around the many piles of debris, he roamed the room for a bit until a torn paper that hung pitifully from its former perch caught his eye. A map, he could tell, though he was unable to read any of the human scribbles.

It looked like it could possibly be the region they were in, spotting the large area of brown that likely represented the desert. There were a few small icons there, but it seemed the desert was not unending. He spotted the mountain, and his ears perked. The mountain that was surrounded with green... A possible haven? His eyes darted back to the splotches in the desert. There were two sets that were rather close to each other, so it was unlikely they were in either set. Another was off to the right, but it had an odd shape, one that didn't remotely resemble the rectangular body of the structure they now occupied. The last was nearly in the center, the closest to the mountain. A white blotch. It was all Hades had to go on, but he had a feeling that was their new rendezvous.

Walking back to Persephone, he greeted her with the same smile he always wore. He said nothing of the map nor his newfound information; she hadn't asked. Instead, he looked to her water pan and then back to her. "Did you get your fill?"

    "Did you get your fill?"

Nearly choking on her last gulp Persephone nodded rapidly, unable to answer due to almost inhaling the water. "Y-yes, I have." She wasn't sure why he wanted to know, but she assumed it was because he didn't want to remain there. After what happened back home she wasn't really surprised. He probably planned to move her around a lot so that she wouldn't be able to escape again. Speaking of which...

"I'm sorry," she murmured. She hadn't apologized to her 'mate' for what she had done, all she had done was accept her return to him as he expected. But surely he had expected her to apologize, right? She had wronged him...she never should have left. Hades had always taken care of her, protected her, trained her, and she had repaid him with disloyalty. He had never done that to her. How could she have been so cruel to him?

    "I'm sorry."

Hades' pale gaze flicked to her own, studying her expression and replaying her brief, yet genuine apology in his mind. It seemed that she had learned her lesson, that running off with some hormonal beau was nothing more than trouble when Hades himself provided everything she needed. Food, shelter, safety... With her new experience of such a terrible play of scenarios, he was sure that he no longer had to retrain her to his side himself. She would be more than happy to do that on her own. His pleasant smile widened a fraction, pleased that she had finally come to terms that her place was at his side. "I know," was his equally brief acceptance.

His head turned back to the map, his feet following and bringing him closer. While a lush, green oasis sounded sorely tempting, he knew it was likely to hold nothing more than the rotting monsters he'd been fighting. They seemed sparser in the desert, though. Would trying to make it to the mountain be better, or recluse in the sands? They could only live here as long as supplies lasted. He gave a small sigh of resolution. This slackened hut would have to serve as a small reprieve; they would need to move. And soon.

He turned back to count the bottles of water, noting eight. A nice, even number... good. While he knew Persephone was likely to require more water than himself, being a grass type, he enjoyed the small comfort of having a plan to assist him. The map had shown little as far as natural landmarks went, but there was no indication of anything until the mountain itself, meaning that he was to assume there would be no resting place until they reached it. "We can't stay here," he commented, allowing Persephone to know their situation. "We'll scour these ruins until sunset tomorrow and then we'll head for the mountain. I'm sure that you need rest after all of that running."

Her mate moved around the room several times, leaving Persephone at a complete loss as to what he was doing. But she didn't want to ask for fear of sounding ignorant or uppity. Either one could get her on Hades's bad side and she didn't want to end up like that buck from before. Keeping a close eye on him she waited for him to finish...whatever he was doing, and come back to her. "We can't stay here,"

Well that certainly wasn't what she expected.

"We'll scour these ruins until sunset tomorrow and then we'll head for the mountain. I'm sure that you need rest after all of that running." We? He meant she was going with him? But she had never been allowed to explore their old den with him, he always said it was too dangerous. "Are you sure it isn't...dangerous?" Persephone had to pause near the end of her sentence to swallow the lump that was forming in her throat. Despite all the training he had given her she had proven to be no match for opponents who actually had experience in fighting. And how was Hades to defend himself if he was busy protecting her? "I suppose...if it is just for one night...we will be okay? Right?"

    She sounded so pathetic.

Hades had not expected Persephone to fully understand when he'd announced their route. She was sweet and blissfully ignorant of how the world worked, and so their own predicament would be a complete stranger to her simple mind. An ear flicked to her direction when her voice sounded in a question. "Are you sure it isn't...dangerous?" He only gave a chuckle in response, his standard pleasant smile widening with amusement. Of course it would be dangerous. Still, his chuckle would be her only response. With his enigmatic reply, she added, "I suppose... if it is just for one night... we will be okay? Right?"

He turned to her and nodded, eyes meeting her own. "As long as you remain obedient, then yes. We will survive the night, Persephone." He turned, going to the remaining bottles and gathered them together, spying an old satchel nearby. They must have been carried in it before. Placing them back in their rightful place, he grasped the satchel and offered it to Persephone. "...These are precious. Do not lose them."

Persephone willed herself to calm as Hades explained that they would be safe. Well, maybe explained was too broad a term. He merely confirmed it. Hades never really explained anything, not really. His simplistic answers held so much information but always said almost nothing at all...it was creepy. But she definitely caught the part about staying obedient and she knew she would make sure to do anything that her mate asked of her. She had to.

The hound began going around gathering the water together and dragged over a small human made object to put them in. After stuffing them in he held it to the Sawsdoe and she looked at it strangely. "...These are precious. Do not lose them." Oh...she was meant to carry them. Bowing slightly she allowed the strap to slide over her head and down her neck, the weight of it settling strangely on her right hip. It was odd at first but she soon adjusted to walking with the peculiar item at her side.

Looking around she noticed her small plate from before and took a look at the bag, wondering if Hades would allow her to take that with them since she had no means of breaking open the bottles like he had. His teeth had served him that purpose but she had been unable to slake her thirst without the small platter. But...it wasn't really her place to ask. He was her mate and he had told her he would provide for her. She wasn't supposed to ask for things. Looking back to her mate Persephone sighed and followed him to wherever he was to lead her.

Looking back to his mate, he watched as she began to shift and become used to the burden he'd given her. While not directly meant to be an act of forced penitence, Hades could see how it could easily be thought of such. Eyes flicking to the little pan she'd used as a water bowl, he waited for her to lock eyes with him, and he gave her a simple nod. "You may have your dish, Persephone." He then turned back and trotted forward, quickly finding that the rest of the building had not fared near as well as the entrance had.

Long, inanimate snakes hung lifelessly from the cieling and ruined appliances that littered the hallway. Floor tiles were upturned, broken, or simply missing. A stagnant, fermented sort of stench lay dormant in the air, a small, soft warning of what was waiting further in. Hades doubted anything truly resided here; the reanimated corpses that seemed to poison the land were true predators... and predators followed prey. Without a prey to follow, why would any remain here? Still, these undead weren't the brightest of killers, so the possibility, however slim, remained that there was something still lurking in those shadows. However, this wasn't going to deter the mutated hound. Little ever did.

Amused at his own thoughts, Hades casually strolled forward, eyes adjusting to the darkness easily and quickly. He paused once he was in the shadow's veil, turning back to his mate. He wasn't sure if her eyes were able to see. "Can you see?" It was a simple question, not one looking to mock or prod.

She was thrilled when she heard Hades call out that she could keep her little plate. Bending down gingerly she took the platter in her mouth and tucked it gently into the satchel she had been entrusted with before following after her mate once more. He was leading them down into the depths of the building and the further in they went the more the place creeped her out. The building was so lifeless, layers of dirt and grime everywhere accompanied by a stale, stagnant air. She felt dirty just looking at everything.

As they continued Persephone began to notice that the light filtering in from outside wasn't reaching any farther in, and that soon they would run out of light completely. A little scared she began to slow down until Hades's voice called to her. "Can you see?" Persephone shook her head slowly. "Not very well. But...as long as you lead I can keep going. I can see enough to see you." Truth be told she didn't want to leave his side, feeling much safer in this place knowing he was with her.

Despite her words she had indeed lost Hades in the darkness. Terrified that he was going to be angry with her she managed to backtrack her way to the beginning but found herself face to face with an Undead group of Ludicolo. Terrified she knocked one away with an Energy Ball and ran for it. "Help!" she cried, hoping that her voice would carry through the darkness to alert her mate that she was in danger. She couldn't wait for him, however, as soon they had her running out the door again and into the sands.

Hades was patient as he waited, amused when his mate claimed she couldn't see. Of course she couldn't... Such a creature as she was inclined for the light, the day, the gentle rays of sun to illuminate her beautiful fur as she grazed through a sun-dappled meadow populated with none but flowers. His own eyes were accustomed to her opposite: the night, the dark, the shadows that clung to each and everything, hiding dangers and treasures both. But as he waited just within the abyssal veil of shadow, he heard her hoofprints trail away, their dainty echo clopping further and further from him. Curious more than wrathful, he followed just in time to see another primitive fool try for what was his.

Her cry spurred him on, his long legs carrying him quickly to her and her attacker. There would be no other that could touch her, that could have the priveledge of even looking at her. No... No one would grasp his Persephone.

    No one.

    [Lame leaving post is lame.]
