    Quote "Well, that was fun!"
    History
Much of Ethan's life has been from a fluke, mistake or pure dumb luck. His birth is a prime example of this, as how despite his parents partaking in many different and normally effective means of birth control, he was still conceived. However, despite being a surprise to say the least, he was welcomed into his new family. At least, that was how he saw it. In a more truthful realm, he was wholly unwanted, His mother and father bickered day in and out, but the optimistic child paid little mind to their arguments as he was normally out of the house, fishing or running amok. Why dwell on the negative when there was so much fun he could have?

One day his father left for work and didn't come back. His mother blamed Ethan in a drunken stupor, but Ethan let it roll off his back. His mother was always making wild accusations, especially when she drank too much Adult Juice, so that was fine. He would rather sleep outside under the pretty stars anyhow.

When his tenth birthday arrived, Gold eagerly awaited to recieve a pokemon from the fabled Professor Elm, especially since his mother had gone and switched the locks again. Silly Mom. The Professor seemed a bit hesitant to give away a pokemon to a scrub-looking deviant such as Gold, but eventually gave in. Ethan of course chose a Cyndaquil for its nose, of all things. (He wasn't aware it would disappear upon evolving, of course.) The Cyndaquil, dubbed Bitey for obvious reasons, was much more mature than her human master. However, getting away from Elm's boring laboratory was a prime objective, and so, Bitey and Gold began their legendary journey together.

They decimated Gyms, threw opponents away like Kleenex, even toppled a multi-region mafia without much of a second thought. Gold attracted the attention of some of the higher ranked trainers in the region, but he didn't much care-- he would rather spend his time goofing with his pokemon or in the heat of battle. Bitey couldn't help but admire the boy; even when life tried to get him down, he just wouldn't allow it and kept forging ahead. Even when his cutthroat leech of a mother siphoned a large chunk of his earnings away and spent it all on gambling, he simply shrugged it off and went about his day. It was hard to ignore such an upbeat attitude-- even harder to not adapt it yourself. Though Bitey maintained much of her personality, she found a secret pleasure in goofing with the young man.

A Pokemon Championship came and went, and though it was the hardest they'd yet fought, Gold didn't stay too long in the limelight. It was customary for the new Champion to stay in Indigo Plateau, but Gold refused, giving the title back to the former Champion to head off to Mount Silver. Being a Champion, staying still for more than a moment when awake? Too dull.

They ventured more and more, exploring everything the world had to offer. Eventually they arrived in Hoenn to enjoy its sunny shores and lush, exotic jungles when strange pokemon began to appear. In what was likely the most serious he'd ever been or would ever be again, Gold immediately sought to distance himself and his team from these strange pokemon, but soon found the rest of the world in chaos. With no way out of the region without risking his pokemon, they stayed put-- they were here for the long run.
    Accent None
Appearance At first glance, Gold is the kind of person that holds no bearing or consequence. He might look familiar, just one of those faces...

Gold is not an intimidating man. Boy. Man-Boy. Scrawny, short and generally weak-looking, he gives off an air of early adolescence, even though he's much older. He wears the clothes he's always worn, dumb hat included. He's still a decent weight and health, even with the world falling apart, as well as all of his pokemon.
    Religion Arceus, loosely
    Personality +Oblivious+
-Unaware of most of his surroundings most of the time, Gold will often overlook many poignant and important details before rushing into a situation
    +Hardy+
-You'd think someone who's as reckless as Gold would need a hardy mind and body. He'd be dead otherwise.
    +Stupid+
     -Yep.
    +Fairly Kind+
-Though a moron, he's a good person at heart. He enjoys bringing happiness to others, at least those he doesn't think are asses, which makes him fairly generous.
-Willing to share with those that are kind in turn, even more precious resources like food and water.
    +Naïve+
-He was fooled by the guy who sold slowpoketails. Yep.
    +Gullible+
     -See above.
    +Adaptable+
-While Gold seems fairly incompetent, he exceeds in being able to roll with punches or adapt to new situations, which is part of the reason he became such a formidable trainer.
    +Somewhat Perceptive+
-With pokemon battles, mostly, Gold can understand what is happening and likely what will happen in the next key moments, allowing him to adjust his own strategy-- which is often just winging it. However, this goes along with other actual life applications, such as some body language or weather patterns. Though this should not be mistaken for Gold knowing why something is happening-- he is only aware of the basic cause and effect.
    +Rash+
-The first thought is always the best.
    +Impish+
-He enjoys pulling light-hearted pranks and jokes, as well as just humor in general.
    +Optimistic+
     -Obnoxiously so.
    +Reckless+
     -See "Rash"
    +Easily Amused+
The smallest things can spell hours of entertainment for Gold. Needless to say, he is never bored.
    Affiliations People.
User Notes -]-Depends on the intellectual input of his Typhlosion a LOT, since he often doesn't think things through. Often keeps her out of her ball for his own safety. (Or more because she refuses to be placed in the ball more often than not.)
-Took much inspiration from the manga's Gold, but life events are heavily based on the games to prevent OP.
-Original Profile I changed one of Scizor's attacks because I'm a moron

Quote "…You won, fair and square. I admit it. But this isn't the end. I'm going to be the greatest Pokémon Trainer ever. Because these guys are behind me. …Listen, Gold. One of these days I'm going to prove how good I am by beating you."
History Silver's life has been very rough. Abandoned by his birth mother, he was soon placed into an orphanage, where he spent six miserable years among his parentless peers. It was a harsh life, as the children often had to compete for everything-- food, toys, friends, beds, attention-- and it was soon made clear that the young Silver was absolutely not capable of beating the others to get the best. However, instead of relying solely on stealth and tricks, Silver was determined to best his rivals as soon as possible.

Though he had many ups and downs in the orphanage, he was adopted at age 7 by a peculiar couple. Unfortunately for Silver, luck was not on his side; he was the last attempt at saving a failing marriage. It was soon made clear that all their anger toward each other soon was focused soley on him, as he became their scapegoat. Silver endured abuse of all sorts for three miserable years from the both of them without much reprieve in sight until at age ten, he finally was able to run away from home. He soon found himself in New Bark Town, eyeing the pokemon lab and the alluring treasures inside. With a pokemon, he'd be able to go out and carve a place for himself. With a pokemon, he would stop being a fucking welcome mat. People would listen to him.

His goal set, it was easy enough to steal a Totodile from the mousey professor, and off he went. He trained his new companion mercilessly, catching more and adding to his power. It was a feeling he'd never experienced before-- the feeling of being in absolute control. They were listening to him. They obeyed him. To a kid who knew of nothing but oppression and abuse, this was an experience that changed him. Drunk on his newfound power, he sought more and more of it only to be occasionally dashed away by a rival boy named Gold. Gold was a naive brat, but each and every time they clashed, the dumbass always managed to arrive on top, spurring Silver's spite and loathing.

It didn't matter-- he'd just get better. Silver tore his way through the Johto region, his pokemon dutifully obeying his commands at every turn as he destroyed gym after gym. When people cried out for his help when Rocket took over, Silver couldn't be bothered. He had better things to do; it was their fault for getting taken over in the first place. When a Gym Leader he'd already beaten called out for his help, he ignored her pleas, as sympathy and caring was weak. He couldn't be weak again. He couldn't go back to what he was again. 'Let the thing die already and move on to a pokemon worth your time.'  But as he left those crying for help behind him, he couldn't help but feel the pang of jealousy as they clamored and praised Gold once he did what Silver had not.

Strangely enough, as he traveled, he seemed to always find his way back to Gold. But later on, Gold was no longer alone. A strange man, accompanied by Dragon pokemon, consistently thrashed his team, even worse than what Gold had ever accomplished. Humiliated, Silver could only try to vent his frustrations out onto his rival, who only pummeled him down as well. Infuriated, Silver left to train harder, determined to beat the two men that were constantly making his life hell. Things soon came to a head as the Lake of Rage nearly exploded with angry Gyarados, attracting Silver to its waters to witness the event. As he watched from afar, he couldn't help but feel a strange feeling toward the forcefully-evolved Gyarados; they were stronger now. Wasn't that better? Weren't they better off for it? If they were, though, then why were they so angry? Why were they in such pain?

The thought was disturbing and hit a little too close to home. Once more, he focused on training his pokemon as well as himself, pushing all of them to the limits as they steady climbed through Victory Road. Of course, it didn't take long for Gold to catch up and once again destroy them effortlessly. It was too much. The Dragon-Master's words, Gold's unflinching prowess, the Gyarados... This was wrong. What he was doing, what he was forcing upon his pokemon... For the first time, he looked upon them as equals, as kin, and was ashamed of himself. He'd become what he had so viciously tried to defeat. A monster.

Silver took time in Kanto much slower, trying to learn who his pokemon were and foster real relationships with them. While it was slow-going at first, his pokemon and he blossomed with the newfound perspective and together, they grew much stronger. For a long while, Silver was almost content with his life, save the nagging hate that he reserved for those that had initially made his life hell. But soon, as he continued to travel, he was contacted by a still in-hiding Giovanni. Their reuinion was brief but overwhelming as he learned his true lineage and what awaited him as an inheritance. Furious, he rejected Giovanni and left, eager to distance himself from such a coward.

There was a time of peace that Silver enjoyed along with his Pokemon. But as the years crept on, so did hushed rumors that soon turned to violent shrieks of terror. The Epidemic was quick and merciless upon his homeland, but Silver and his pokemon were not the sort to surrender. They have vigilantly been survivng by being nomadic through the now ruins of Johto, living each day one hour at a time.
    Accent None
Appearance Silver has somehow managed to keep himself and his pokemon relatively healthy. It certainly hasn't been for lack of trying, though. Ever determined to be the best he can be, he keeps himself and his pokemon dutifully trained. He sports a lean, lithe frame and shoulder-cropped red hair. His skin is fairly pale and burns easily, but that often isn't a problem in the temperate climate of Johto.
    Religion Agnostic
    Personality
    +Guarded+
-Major trust issues. Often doesn't confide in anyone but his own pokemon, and even then it's not a complete guarantee.
     -Cold and distant to strangers
-Often unwilling to invest himself in others; takes a lot for him to open up
     -Suspicious
     -Socially awkward
    +Cynical+
-Often expects and prepares for the worst
-Rarely allows himself to enjoy something good
     -Dark sense of humor
    +Angry+
-Silver has a lot of hate built up within him, and it does lead to a very nasty temper more often than not. While he's aware of this flaw, he also knows there's little he can do about it until he is able to move on.
-It's mostly directed at Giovanni and Ariana themselves, but he can and will lash out at others if his fury reaches higher and higher levels.
    +Emotional+
-Not good at hiding his emotions
-Gets carried away with them often
-He does have a wide emotional range, but tends to try and stifle the "weaker" ones [sadness, happiness, etc.] more frequently.
-Emotionally stunted; is sometimes not entirely sure how to express a certain emotion, which leads to more outbursts of frustration
    +Determined+
-Resolute little shit right here. Doesn't take "no" for an answer. When he wants something, by God, he'll fucking get it.
-Willing to put himself through hell to get what he wants or needs.
     -Scrappy
    +Cunning+
-Resourceful; is able to use what little he has to his advantage
     -Has a mind for strategy
     -Sharp wit and sharper tongue
    +Rebellious+
     -Unafraid to speak his mind.
     -The more blunt, the better.
-Almost has an instinct to challenge authority figures; doesn't often cedede to their orders unless he sees them as worthy of his obedience
     -Snarky
    +High-Strung+
-Never really relaxes; this contributes to his high amount of frustration
     -A bit paranoid
    +Competitive
     -Sore loser
-A lifetime of having to compete for the things he needed has taken a toll on him, causing every interaction with another human being to be a fight or contest of some sort.
     -Absolutely not charitable. Hoarding tendencies.
    -Possessive
    -Selfish
    Affiliations Gold
-Long time rival; knows now that Gold is a magnificent trainer, despite being a dipshit. It's frustrating to Silver how Gold can so effortlessly be good, but it only fuels his own determination to be better.
    Giovanni and Ariana
-Estranged parents. While he has had some contact with Giovanni -that was not well-recieved- he has had even less with his mother. He loathes both of them very, very much.
    Lance
-While he wasn't ever truly fond of the man, he appreciated the lesson Lance taught to him. Silver is grateful to have been turned around from a merciless slave-driver to being a true trainer and friend.
User Notes  -Adopted, but changed dramatically. Will be restarting post count.
-Loathes Team Rocket and his affiliation with them
